I have upgraded the batteries on my SMC1500C with the appropriate kit from APC.
How do you reset the date on these things?
I cannot do it through the web interface on the UPS.
When I hook the battery USB cable to my laptop, the Powershoot desktop software will not complete, as it does not see the UPS. Windows does see the UPS.
When I use apctest (version 3.14.14) from my Freebsd server usb connection, apctest sees the UPS, it identifies the connection and returns SUCCESS when checking the capalities. When I go to update the date, it returns this error: "I do not know how to access the battery date on your UPS, or your UPS does not support the battery feature.
the apcaccess command also returns the expected data.
Any suggestions on how to reset the battery expiration date on this model?

Hi @willcasp
Thank you for reaching out to the SE Community, my name is Jon and I will assist you with this query. Apologies for the inconvenience this has caused.
I understand that you are in need of assistance resetting the date on the UPS. May I please know what date exactly are you referring to? Have you also enrolled the UPS into a SmartConnect account?
If it is the battery replacement date, can you try to access the Configuration Mode of the UPS and then set the battery replaced to rb.1 as mentioned on pages 11 and 13 of the User Manual?
Regarding the software, there are certain Linux Distros that our software would work with. I suggest checking the compatibility charts to see those that would work.

Thank you for the response.
I did the rb.1 configuration as the documentation suggested. The L.02 error that I was seeing on the UPS went away after that. When I check the SmartConnect web page, it still has a status of Warning, with a message of "Battery Replacement Due Mar 10th, 2021 " for this UPS. I did replace the battery a year (ok, 18 months) late.
I will try apctest from an ubuntu distro, and see if that does the trick. Any other ideas?

@JonPro ,
This is weird. I checked the smartconnect page again and now it the battery warning is gone. It shows a battery date of April 6, 2027 now. Not sure why it took two days to show up.. but the problem seems to be resolved. Thanks!

Nice to hear that you got it resolved @willcasp. In my experience, it take approximately 10-15 minutes before the UPS syncs to the SmartConnect cloud.
