I am sure this has been asked before, and I did find related topics, but nothing that seems helpful for me.
I have a Back-UPS RS 1500 and an additional battery connected to it.
About a week ago, I accidentally hit the power button on the main unit. Of course, I turned it back on, but ever since then, the red replace battery light has been on with the periodic beeping. If the battery has really died, I'll replace it, but it seems that just powering off would not kill the battery. Is there something else it could be? I have tried running self-test manually, but it just triggers the beeping.
Thank you in advance.

How old is the battery in the UPS and the external battery pack battery?
It could be a coincidence that the battery is older now and the subsequent automatic battery self test would've done the same thing in notifying you to replace the battery. Upon turning most UPSs of this type ON, the UPS goes through its battery self test. You could try running another self test as well which to do that, just let me know the exact model from the white sticker on the back or bottom of the UPS. I'll double check how to issue another self test if you don't want to do it by turning it OFF/ON again. Usually it is holding down the power button for a short duration will do it but I want to double check for your model.
