Recycle APCRBC110 battery

I recently replaced the battery in my BE550G UPS. I followed the instructions to recycle the old battery. I printed a label and dropped it off at FedEx. The package with the battery was just returned to me with the note "Hold Expired".  On Nov 11th, it showed "Return to shipper". 

Why did this happen?

Worst case you can drop the RBC off at any Staples, Best Buys, Home Depot, Lowes, any Garage / Battery location.
