I bought the RS 1000. When it arrived, it had to be charged before using the backup outlets. I plugged the computer into the surge protector outlet on the back and then due to the demands of tax season, only just now realized I had never gone back and plugged it into one of the battery backup outlets. I have tried that today and none of the battery backup outlets work...only the surge protector ones. Any help? I have since lost the booklet that came with it so have no instructions to help me out.

The first thing I would check is the internal battery connections. Out of the box, the batteries inside the UPS are not connected. I think it is 2 grey connectors that you need to mate together to connect the battery.
Instructions for connecting the battery are in the product manual:
