Having problems with dialup hyperterminal connection hanging on Masterswitch AP9225 after toggling outlet on / off a few times. I am using US RObotics 33.6 dialup modem.
Any suggestions ??
Direct RS232 connection from laptop to Masterswitch presents no problem with trials .

Hello,
Have you tried the modem with other hyperterminal applications (different kinds of units?). It sounds like it is isolated to the modem if the normal serial connection works. APC doesn't test these sorts of connections due to the wide range of modems and the dated technology itself.
However, you might be interested in a CPS (console port server) which gives you remote access to the serial connection. APC CPS's support out of band management for your dialup needs.

Hello,
Can you please explain what you're trying to accomplish by going through a dial-up modem to the masterswitch? Normally you just establish a connection using Hyperterminal and the Smart-Signaling cable.

Hi KMP,
My situation is that the Masterswitch is located at A remote Radio site 100 miles from home base and the only connection is through Dialup.
When I set these APC units up at the workshop , there was no problem talking direct using the provided smartcable and Hyperterminal.
The problem appears to be with incompatable modems eg US robotics and the laptop Lucient built in modem. I have tried latest driver for Laptop modem and played with settings on both modems and hyperterminal. Again, I can get connected but after a few outlet toggles the modem connection will hang and unable to re-establish connection without having tech at remote end remove and replace cable from Mastersw. port.
Still experimenting with different laptops and builtin modems as well as some AT commands for modem communication. Anything suggestions would be appreciated.
Tks
mk
