Is anyone seeing a problem with the BackUPS BE550G and the newer green power supplies that HP is using? We have connected new HP DC7900 series PCs to the BE550G and noticed that they would shut themselves off periodically. We did some testing and learned that we can make the DC7900 shut down by making it go right to batter on the BE550G. Apparently the combination of the UPS and the new "green" power supply technology in the PC does not get along. Has anyone seen this? Do they have any advice? Going to SmartUPS would be cost prohibitive for deskop PCs.

i am in APC tech support π so i can only say what we have seen here. we have seen it with Dell and HP so far and just finicky power supplies all together, especially with active power factor correction.

we have seen this with any type of "super efficient" power supply. they do not like the step approximated sine wave output from the Back UPS and/or the transfer time of the Back UPS to and from battery operation π

Thank you very much. Did you find the solution to be not to use a low end UPS for PCs with these power supplies or were you able to move up to a higher end UPS that generates a sine wave that the power supply finds more acceptable? Finally, was your experience with HP or another brand?
