Hello,
im new in this forum. I'm german so please forgive my "low budget" english.
I've bought two APC CS 650 in the past on august the 8th in 2008. One of them is working quite fine with it's first Battery, the second ones battery has been changed about a month ago because the remaining battery backup time wasn't long enought and the APC Power Chute Software recommomanded to buy a new one, so i did.
Let's get to the problem. Two days ago the strange behavior of the UPS started. First indication of failure were that suddenly the battery back uped power consumer were disabled by the UPS while still the power grid was online and the battery was charged at 100% (info by APC Power Chute). After a couple of resets, disconnecting the battery an disconection mains the UPS was working again. This failure is now permanent an i cannot connect power consumer's anymore, because they are just getting no power after a few minutes of working progress. So i can eleminate the possibility of an defect on a relais or the mains switch.
The second problem was recognized by me in the last few minutes because i connected the UPS without power consumers to mains and my computer directly to mains grid. So i can debug more or less the UPS. In this case i get a VERY strange reading in the APC Power Chute where the input voltage is concernd. It's showing me values which can not be possible, like 19894Volts an i didn't connected it to HV mains grid^^ I shot some screenshots because it's kind of strange.
APC Power Chute also display that the remaining battery capacity should be at 0%, but i measured the pb-battery by multimeter an is about 12Volts and also the UPS is in battery charging mode without any load since about 4hours.
Now my final question is, can you help me? I'd like to know if this problem is well known or something like that. And i'd like to fix it with your help
thanks
yours sincerly
Thomas Bauer

Hi Thomas,
From what I know, the reason for this voltage reading is due to the UPS firmware. If you think that the UPS is still under warranty, I suggest that you contact the local APC Technical Support and have your UPS replaced.

Hi dabaua, I would suggest that you try to uninstall and then reinstall the software to see if it still continues to display odd values. If the UPS continues to exhibit odd values and no power output i would suggest contatcing tech support for further troubleshooting and a possible RMA. Hope this helps.
