Problem connecting Backups CS 650 and Powerchute

Hello,

i connected my new Backups device to the USB port of my WinXP SP2 computer.
No "New Hardware found" screen appeared.
So i tried to install the latest Powerchute 2 Version, but i got a message, that no UPS Device was found.
I Have ONLY 1 Mouse and Keyboard connected. No Hub or Other devices.
I also unplugged the KB+Mouse and tried again.
Also reinstalled SP2.
Tried multiple USB ports.
I have no Red Device in the device manager!
I only have an Unknown device in the "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED" Window (attachment).

What can i do?

TKS!!

I also have the AliveNF6G-DVI from ASRock....and the same problem...No HID Category in Device Manager, though i tried to install and uninstall the drivers above....Seems that there is some kinda conflict with the chipset and the HID devices....Anyway....Did anyone come up to a solution since the last post?

Hi Termi11,
I have had some success with the following procedure in situations where a USB Back-UPS is not being recognized properly, and all of the required USB drivers appear to be in place on the system. The steps below are specific for a Back-UPS CS 650 (BK650). If your model is different, it may require a slightly different procedure.

Shut the unit off
Unplug everything from the unit, and disconnect the USB cable
Unplug the unit from the wall
Press and hold the ON button:

There should be an initial beep when you press the button in. If you continue to hold the button in, you should hear a second, longer beep. To start the UPS up onto battery power, you need to release the button during this second, longer beep. Once the UPS has started, you should see the unit flashing the battery and online LED. If you see no flashing, you may have let the button out too late and should try the process again.

Once the unit has succesfully started up onto battery power, plug it back in to put it online, and reconnect the USB cable to your computer. Is the UPS recognized properly in Device Manager? If so, try installing the software again. Please Let me know how it turns out.

No, problem still exists.
I Tried also the USB remove http://tinyurl.com/2fwb tweak.

The device works on another PC.
This is an Asrock Mainboard with NForce chipset. Latest drivers

Have you tried reinstalling the hid drivers on this machine?

Yes, i uninstalled them in safe mode, then rebooted.
I also tried to overwrite them with the hid* files from the cd/sp.

My last step was to disable the ports in bios, and installed a pci / usb2 card.
Still the same, device not found.

Think i have to reinstall windows 😞

Hi Termi!

I have an Asrock MB too, and the same problems..

Which board do you have? ALiveNF6G-DVI?? ==> trouble!!!

With an ALiveNF6G-VSTA the UPS works fine, although it´s the same chipset. Seems it depends on the BIOS.

Tommy
