Forgive me if something like this has been answered before, but I could use some advice.
I'm working starting a small part-time business which involves going to various SCA and similar events and doing photography, as well as photo printing. Many of these events involve camping, as such power has to come from a small generator. I'll be using a laptop, and a printer or two, and I have a small (cheap and light) two cycle 800 watt generator to handle the power. I would like to upgrade the generator, but can't at the moment. Moreover, as my wife (who weighs about 100 pounds) will have to lift and move it, getting a very large generator isn't practical.
Since it is a cheap generator, I don't particular trust the power that comes off of it. I want power conditioning, and preferably a ups in case the generator dies. My problem is that I'm not finding out from the specs how many watts (or amps) any of the UPS's draw, and I would prefer not to pull too much from my generator.
My desktop machine runs on a 350, but unless I misread the sticker, it can draw 1200 watts. That is a problem for my generator. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a small power supply that will draw < 800 watts?
Thank you in advance
