I recently purchased a Ups 450 (I believe it's a BN450M). I've had it plugged in and running since I purchased it. Today, we're expecting power outages due to an ice storm passing through the area. I decided to turn off the unit and unplug it from the wall to avoid any surges that can accompany power being restored. When I pressed the power button, nothing happened. No beeps, and the button stays lit. I've held it down for several seconds with no result. I unplugged the unit from the wall and it reacted as expected ( switched to battery, power light flashed) until I plugged it back in.
I've owned several APC battery backup units in my life, this is the first with this style of button. The manual says that it should beep after holding it for two seconds. Am I looking at a defective unit? Something I'm not doing correctly? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you for replying, Bill.
Once I realized it wasn't performing normally, I've tried several intervals. I've held it down for as long as twenty seconds. It never beeps and the unit never reacts in any way.
Thank you for the link. I'll follow up with them.
I appreciate you taking the time, thanks again.
best;
Adam

Hi,
The UPS should turn off after holding down the power button for a few seconds. Try pressing the button for a count of 4. If it does not power off there may be an issue with the switch and you should contact local Schneider Electric Technical Support for assistance.
Local support contact information will be found at this link.
