Is it ok to plug a UPS unit into a surge protector outlet that is plugged directly into the wall outlet? I have looked up info on google, but see conflicting advice on whether you should or not. I have noticed where I work that there are a lot of UPS unites that are plugged into a surge protector and the surge protector is plugged into the wall. And I have noticed the opposite where a surge protector is plugged into a UPS and the UPS is plugged into the wall outlet. I am not an expert in electricity and need advice from someone who knows.
Thanks!

Dear BillP:
I am a retired computer technician and about to install an APC Back-UPS Pro 2200VA at home.
Elsewhere in this forum you kindly advised that the problem with connecting the APC UPS to a surge protector (or to any many-socket power source) is that an overload of ANOTHER appliance connected to the surge protector may interfere with the UPS, also voiding the Warranty:
Unfortunately, where my PC is located there is only ONE wall outlet. To it I have plugged a Belkin Surge-Master 8-socket extension, needed for other equipment there. My only choice is to plug to it the APC UPS!
This is NOT recommended, I know.
MITIGATION: The UPS is rated at 1320W. The equipment plugged to it has max. consumption 1100W. So far so good. What matters here is that OTHER equipment connected to the Belkin surge protector:it may overload it and thus interfere with the UPS. Well, in this case that other equipment is another PC, but with much lower peak consumption (700W), and using a top-rated Corsair PSU and hardly any peripherals. I therefore consider that the possible interference is minimal. Please also note that this apartment has a top-quality modern electrical installation.
Am I correct? Thanks!!
