The issue is that by default the UPS turns automatically off after shutting down the computer connected to it. (after 60 seconds to be exact)
This is described as "battery sleep mode" in the old PowerChute Manual.
Now this wouldn't be such a big deal if the user could just turn this behaviour off in Serial Shutdown or PowerChute but it is not possible to do so.
It's mind boggling to me that this isn't documented and not changeable by the user.
Instead, the user has to resort to third party tools like APCUPSD and work with VBScript to make the UPS not go into "battery sleep mode" after shutting down the computer connected to it.
It isn't an issue for me personally because I'm very comfortable using scripts and I planned to use APCUPSD anyway.
However, I don't think this is an acceptable solution for a normal consumer that doesn't possess the necessary knowledge to set something up like APCUPSD.
