PSU buzzing when Electric shower is on

My power supply is Cooler Master G500 , 80 plus (bronze), Active  PFC.

Whenever i use my home electric shower, my psu will buzz.As soon the shower is off, it will stop too.

I called eletrician to check wiring... he says nothing unusual... though he haven't check Earth. he just check the voltages from the wall socket.

I am currently using Belkin Surge Protector 4 Socket Home Series with EMI filter from 100Khz ~ 150Mhz.

Next,

I tried APC ES500 and it still buzz, not sure why though... i used AVR but no help.

I seen that some SMART ups have full time multi-pole EMI filtering : 0.3% while this ES500 have only ' Full-time ' emi filtering.

I have changed my electric shower to brand new one, and it still buzz.

is it my home wiring or earthing problem?

I don't want to end up buying some expensive Ups and still doesn't solve my issue.

Thanks.. smile

Hello,

I asked around to see how we could help. Do you have the details on the model of the electric shower so we can look it up and understand how it works better?

It sounds like the electric shower is causing line noise. Is it installed on the same circuit as your PC? One option may be to move it to a different circuit. Another thing that came to mind without knowing more was the possible need for an isolation transformer but once we see the electric shower, it will be easier to make a recommendation to you.

it's and old electric shower. National DH-306M,

and it's not listed on panasonic website today.

below is it's label.

National Electric Home Shower

Model - DH-306M

volt.240V

A.C Only 50Hz

WATT.3300W

today National is known as Panasonic.

the electric shower is installed on different fuse. My room's Wall socket is on another different fuse on the Fuse Box.

You mean by just using Smart UPS alone doesn't even help that much ? undecided

We believe a Smart-UPS will likely still display the same problem. I hate to tell you to purchase one "just to try it" with the likelihood it will still buzz. Also, an electrician should have likely known that this type of thing is line noise..he or she did not mention line noise?

I've looked at the typical schematic for an electric shower and they appear to be not that much more complicated than an electric kettle that has multiple heating elements...none I saw had components that could introduce noise such as SCRs (that clip or modify the AC waveform - eg as used in a lamp dimmer) to select the heating power level but rather used simple switches. What I am wondering though is that these showers are very high power devices - this one is 3,300 watts at 240 volts - could be that operation of the shower is causing a voltage sag/drop on the power in the house or apartment ? and the computers power supply is reacting to it. Some electric showers have as high as 10 kilowatt elements - which is a very large load.

I notice that some electric showers have a neon bulb in them...( which is essentially a tiny gas discharge tube)...does your unit have one and does it flicker ? ...that could be minor source of electrical noise.
