HI, I installed PCPE from the CD on a Dell running XP Pro. On restart, I get a Powerchute window saying that the Back-UPS is running, and there is an icon in the tray. When I click the icon (or try to open Powerchute from START) it tries to open, but no window appears. I want to set it up to "preserve battery life" by doing a shutdown after 1 or 2 minutes, but can't get to the window where these settings are made, even though it seems to be running. Uninstall then reinstall had no effect. I am able to get the UPS to trigger hibernation using settings in the Windows Power Options Control Panel (in the UPS tab which appears when Powerchute is installed), but I can't find a way to get the main Powerchute window to open. Any help appreciated!

Thanks for the response. That's the problem -- it seems to be running but I can't open the window to configure it. The PCPE icon is there in the tray, and it gives little messages when the UPS status changes, so the UBS link is working. The model is BE750G, and I installed version 2.0.

If possible, download the PCPE version 2.0 from here and install it on your Computer. You would need to uninstall the current software prior to installing the downloaded software.
For your information, The Corporate Edition of Norton AntiVirus can have compatibilityissues with PowerChute Personal Edition. We do not recommend that you have both of these applications installed at the same time.
You can also use the Windows XP inbuilt USB native support to shutdown your Computer gracefully in the event of power failure without using the PCPE software. You will need to uninstall the PCPE software in order for the USB native support to enable. Click here to know the procedures to configure the USB native support in XP.
I hope that this helps.

Yay! I suspect that the CD software's some files might have been corrupted. I am glad that software from our site worked.
Have a nice day!

Thanks, installing the software from the ftp link you provided solved the problem, even though it has the same version number as the software on the cd that came with the product. At least it works now.
