Old APC RBC35 - Battery consideration

Hello, I have an older model RBC35 that I am considering getting a battery replacement for, and knowing without physically seeing/testing this unit any answer i get is to a point ... a guess ... I realize that.

The battery IS dead and to be honest it was a yard sale find and the battery condition was noted so i knew what i was getting.   I opened an issue via email and i forgot something but maybe this is the better place to ask.

The unit when plugged in and turned ON has that loud constant tone.  When the unit is OFF (battery completely gone from the unit) the Surge Protection side has no power to anything plugged into those three outlets on that side ... ironically (I thought it'd be the other way around) the surge + battery backup side (all three outlets) have power when plugged into the wall and the unit is OFF ... that is the bit of info i forgot in my email.

Knowing it's a guess of an answer if anyone answering cant physically test my unit ... does this sound like a new battery would fix this or does it seem like it may be a zapped unit ... I live in South Florida by the way and on the unit or the old battery which i still have atm .. there are no signs of burns or anything like that but i admit i haven't opened it up to look at the circuitry.

thank you all for your input/help/advice ahead of time

Again someone would have to physically get my unit to get a true answer as I said but I may have just found my own answer https://download.schneider-electric.com/files?p_enDocType=User+guide&p_File_Name=ASTE-6Z5S4V_R0_EN.p... ... i see where the surge only provide power (even if unit is off) and the surge+ battery side provide power when the unit "is on" ... that is exactly what mine is doing and this seems like it could be acting COMPLETELY as expected and normally ... getting a battery may be worth it to finally put this UPS i have had sitting around, in use

RBC35 is the part number for the battery. Not the model of the UPS you are asking about.

Here is the sales page for an RBC35. There is a compatible products tab on the page. That may give you a clue to the model you are asking about.  https://www.apc.com/shop/us/en/products/APC-Replacement-Battery-Cartridge-35/P-RBC35

See if you can find another part number on it.
