Hello everybody.
There is a Back-UPS CS 650VA (BK650EI), which was used several years ago.
Now I decided to use it, changed the battery, connected it and discovered a strange pulsating squeak.
The device is connected to the network, nothing is connected to it.
Is this normal behavior?

Sounds like the inverter charging circuit. Various models of APC UPS make similar noises when operating, charging, or when on battery only.
Nothing to worry about unless you hear the following sounds: Rapid clicking, popping, or hissing.
Rapid Clicking: If we assume the power is fine and you hear rapid clicking this indicates a failure of the internal relays. This is known as Relay Weld and is tracked by many of the APC UPS in their error code.
Popping / Hissing: This indicates several different scenarios in the first case hissing sounds normally come from a battery that is either bad (Needed to be replaced but wasn’t) or the UPS is over charging the cells. Lots of (Older Generation) APC units were programmed with crazy high charging and float levels. This caused batteries to fail prematurely causing the vent cap to (Pop)! 🤦♂️👎
Batteries left inside of a system would overheat and begin to bulge. Which made it next to impossible to remove from the inner casing! More often than not before you heard the pop you would hear a hissing sound. That is the battery releasing pressure from within via its vent caps!
This gas is extremely toxic, caustic, and flammable.
NOTE: Some larger enterprise UPS systems also emit a hissing sound. This sound comes from the power inverter / transformer circuitry - Nothing to worry about there. 👍
Lastly, any UPS that incorporates a fan can and will emit noise. If the fan isn’t kept clean it can make all kinds of strange noise like a squeaky wheel to random chattering.
Thanks for the video . . .
