I have a brand new BR1500G and was told by APC technical service on the telephone to remove the red sticker on the battery - can someone please confirm this? I did remove it but now have some regrets. I also have an odor emitting - it might be because the unit is brand new. Thanks!

I think the red sticker just says that you need to connect the battery since we have to ship the UPS with them disconnected. And yes, just like a lot of new electronics, you could experience a slight odor that should burn off in the coming day or so. Either way, removing the label would have no effect on the odor.
