Just bought a Line-R 1200.Surge protection specs not great. I assumed I should daisy chain this with a dedicated surge protector with better noise filtering etc. Was told not to by APC rep on the phone - said it might block the surge being redirected to ground.
1. Do I need additional surge protection?
2. If surge will be redirected to ground, why ever pay for a more expensive surge protector, since the surge can be/will be directed to the ground?
3. We also have a Back-UPS Pro 1500 and a BR1300 LCD on other computers. Same question applies to them - is their surge protection sufficient? Can I daisy chain a dedicated surge protector to them, such as a P11VTN3?
4. What about other features of advanced surge protector such as noise filtering. Am I giving up that by using the Line-R 1200?
Angela N. on Jun 17, 2009 3:57 AM responded to similar question by saying "Basically with surge protectors, surge protection is their primary feature so surge protection is beefed up as much as possible. With the UPSs, the primary function is to provide runtime and be a battery backup. Surge protection is an added feature of that but the surge protection in the UPSs still meets the specs of UL1449 certification". So... does that mean that by using a UPS you are accepting less surge protection
