I just received my brand new Back-ups pro 1500 from Amazon, it has a quality assurance test taped on it from 7/2/16 so I know it worked before
I pulled out the battery, flipped it as instructed, but powering the unit on just shows a flashing empty battery icon, power chute says unknown
I pulled the battery out reconnected it, the unit shows a fully charged battery
Closing the battery door and turning the device right side up suddenly shows the same flashing icon...
I opened the door, pulled the battery, reinserted it...Full battery...10 seconds later it disconnects without me touching it...
I tried killing house power but the unit shuts off instantly so the battery isn't working in that sense
I tried killing house power inserting the battery, turning on the unit..The unit powers on and stays on..But closing the door and setting the unit right side up disconnects the battery and kills the unit......
Closer inspection on the battery shows one of the pins seems to be jammed into the battery.........
Not sure how/when that happened
According to the battery slot the top is black- the bottom is red+
The red+ sticks out and looks like it would make contact no problem, the black- looks like it might have been jammed into the battery because it is deep into the socket
So should I just contact support or am I missing something?
Thank you

Let me start by saying I highly don't recommend doing this by any means, contact support if you have this same situation
DON'T DO THIS, CONTACT SUPPORT
With my limited knowledge of electrical devices I felt at ease messing with the black pin on the battery
I took a decent sized safety pin and bent the needle into a tiny U shape using pliers
I fed the safety pin down and hooked it onto the open hole on the black contact and pulled it back up with pliers
My first attempt to reconnect the battery resulted in the pin getting jammed again...Not sure why the batter doesn't slot right if it's designed for this unit...
I fished the contact out again and used needle nose pliers to bend the black contact, over compensating for another possible jam
Viola
Reconnecting the battery worked, I ejected the battery and the contact was sure enough not jammed, reconnected the battery, turned it up right
Now my battery backup works as intended
