I bought a Back-UPS XS 1500 two days ago, and it's been working fine, but it is giving off this weird smell, kinda like warm circuit boards or a slight electrical-type smell, or even the slight smell you get in the air when using an ionizing air cleaner (although much stronger than that).
The smell from the UPS itself is very faint, but the room it's in only has one door and the UPS is as far away from it as it can get, so the smell builds up.
The unit isn't running hot, nor are any of the plugs or transformers I have plugged into it.
I've seen from other threads that this is probably some uncured varnish and the smell should go away in another few days or so.
Is this a correct assumption?

i think its normal and agree with your findings - i would be moreconcerned if it doesnt go away in 3-5 days of running because you really shouldn't have to question whether its a problem or not if the smell is that bad.
