I just unboxed a new Back-UPS Pro 1350. I flipped the battery over (from red to green) and turned the unit on. During the start-up procedure, the battery indicator shows half charged, though I'm not sure if this is a true measurement or just the start-up proceedure. But after about 15 seconds, the battery fault icon (battery with an X through it) lights up, and the UPS starts constantly beeping. This happens whether there is anything plugged into the UPS or not.
I've slid the battery out and back in thinking maybe it wasn't seated correctly, but it doesn't help.
Is there any step I've missed? Or was I shipped a faulty unit?

Thank you. That seems to have fixed the problem!

You may have a faulty unit, but I'd try two things before contacting APC support (or returning the unit to the retailer):
1. Safely power down any attached load (if there is one). Disconnect the battery and unplug the unit from AC power. Press and hold the power button down for about 30 seconds. The unit may respond briefly.
2. Reinstall the battery, connect the unit to AC power (but don't turn it on) and let it charge for about eight hours. (The battery will charge any time the unit is plugged in to power.
If it still acts up after performing both of these steps, the unit will probably require service or replacement.
