Not the hydrogen sulphide smell from a bad battery but the sort of acrid smell you'd get from high voltage gear that's factory new. I'd expect this to be the normal off-gassing I've encountered before from previous APC (and other brands) products. Except it's been almost a month... the smell isn't strong*, but it's not getting less as well.
Everything else about the system seems ok... other APC units no longer give off the smell, just this particular unit [it's the first BX1100LI I've bought. Most of my other APC units are the more typical rack-mounted types].
The customer / CEO / dad is getting concerned. Should I be?
*If I leave a fan on in the room or as long as there's some ventilation occurring, the smell is not noticeable BUT I can feel a slight throat irritation whenever I am in the room. I'm sort of hypersensitive to this, coming off some time in the oil / chemical industry.
