Need advice ... Have APC H15 - need to add UPS if possible

Wasnt sure where to ask this but this seemed like a good place.

I am in need of some info and advice for adding an UPS to existing power protection. I have an APC H15 Line cond./Surge/Voltage Reg. We have DirecTV DVR (HR24) and an external HDD connected to it for increased storage.
I have read some info on adding a small UPS like and inexpensive APC UPS or other brand to plug into the H15 and then plug the DVR and external hard drive into that. Reportedly it helps prevent issues with the DVR not picking up the external drive when there is a very short lived power interruption by keping them both running.
Where we live, we often experience very short outages lasting a second or less and sometimes several of them will come in quick succession. Or, we will experience several single events over the course of a few minutes or an hour etc.
It happens frequently and it has been a concern that I should have dealt with long ago.

Anyway ... when I was thinking about it, these very short brownouts ( or whatever they are called) cant be good for the TV either. So I was thinking that it may be a good idea to find a UPS that is a little larger to handle the TV as well. I dont need anything that will keep things running for any real length of time. Just a UPS that will deal with these very quick power off and back on incidents. The TV is a 60" LCD but it is LED edge lit so it doesnt use too much energy.

So my questions are ...

-what do I need in terms of type of UPS unit ... Do I need an online unit so that there is no delay in the unit switching to battery? The power interuptions are so quick usually that I wonder if a unit that has to switch over to battery will pick them all up?

-Also, do I need to look for a UPS with a pure/true sine wave output waveform if I plan to also connect the TV to the unit? If I should use an online type UPS then I guess that this question is already answered since I think that all the online types are probably pure sinewave.

- Can or should I plug the UPS into the wall and then the APC H15 into the UPS? Or plug the UPS into the H15 and then plug the DVR, external HDD and TV into the UPS?

- Finally ... I noticed that many of the UPS units also have voltage regulation, filtering and surge supression. Would any or all of these features conflict with these same features in the APC H15 in any way?

I appreciate any an all help, suggestions and input anyone can offer.
I am trying to find something that is as inexpensive as possible but that will do the job. Id rather keep the HR15 and add a UPS if possible rather than buying and all in one unit.

Thanks for the reply. I have read since posting that one should NOT plug a surge or surge AVR device into a UPS, especially a square wave or stepped output UPS. The reasons given was mainly due to the load being tough on the UPS but with other potential issues the other way. Makes sense that the trim kicking on is one of them. I think that whatever UPS I go with, I'll probably plug it into the H15 instead.
