NMC AP 9631, cable: 9401525, how to setup hyper terminal connection

Hi,

we have UPS 5000 with AP 9631. I am trying to configure network connection for UPS ...

First try:

I tried to setup network parameters on NMC throug "Device IP Configuration Wizard".

The message was "... ip address is in use ..."

IP is not in use.


Second try:

Use serial cable and connect UPS to machine.
Hyper Terminal connection parameters are (from link: http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3061😞

I have cable 940 1525 A. Connect it to Universal I/O on UPS and Serial on machine.

Properties of hyper connection:

9600 bps, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, and no flow control.


but there is no answer ....


Once with IBM UPS 3000XHV it passed with:

2400 bits per second, flow control Xon/Xof, and disable advanced option on COM properties- "Use Fifo Buffers"



pls for any information I would appreciated it ...

Hi Indira,

What is the exact model number of your UPS? Also, the AP9631 card comes with another kind of cable it is a serial to TRS (tip-ring-sleeve) and the part number is 940-0299. You can use this cable to access HyperTerminal and the settings would be 9600-8-None-1-No Flow Control. You can also use the 940-0024 or 940-1524 cables and the terminal emulation settings would be 2400-8-None-1-No Flow Control.

I found cable 940-0299 (somewhere in box 🙂 ), setup connection as you said, and it works !
