In Powerchute, the setting is this:
Yes my goddamn UPS keeps beeping whenever my PC is under heavy load. It seems like this setting does nothing at all. Incredibly frustrating.

You can't disable it, it's there for a reason.
Constantly running a ups in overload is dangerous for both the UPS, equipment and possibly for you.

To be clear it's a long continuous beep that doesn't stop until I shut down the intensive programs on my PC. Does Powerchute just not do anything at all?

Hi Ian,
You say that it only beeps when you are doing heavy work on your computer?
If that is that case then it's probably the overload alarm and not the backup alarm. The backup alarm is only when the power is out, the overload alarm is when you are going beyond the capacity of your UPS.
That particular unit is only good for a peak usage of 330 watts.

Ok so how do I disable the overload alarm beeping? It's very annoying.
