Hi,
does anybody knows how I can change some parameters stored in the eeprom of the LS-500?
I replaced the original battery with more powerful one and would like to adjust the parameters so it displays proper charge and discharge values.
The unit backups an Ubuntu server.
Thanks,
vph

If any of our APC customers on the forums have experience with "hacking" this information feel free to follow their advice at your discretion. APC will not cover any damages caused by such a procedure. This is because the EEPROM of the Back-UPS units is not designed to be interfaced with by a customer in any way, and additionally the Back-UPS LS communication is not "Smart" or two-way, which makes communication back and forth between the UPS and a client PC limited to only what PowerChute can "pull" from the UPS.
Assuming you bought an official APC replacement batt,,,if you are having runtime issues, try a "manual calibration" of the UPS. This involves loading the UPS with exactly a 30% load, making sure the battery is 100% charged (according to the software), and then unplugging the UPS from the wall and letting it totally discharge, while maintaining the 30% load previously mentioned. This should force the UPS to re-calibrate the runtime. Other solutions, if you are getting totally invalid or gibberish runtime, are to uninstall and reinstall the software, and also reseating the USB cable on the UPS and PC.
