The battery appears to be fully charged and the UPS works fine when I unplug the power, it says it will keep my equipment running for 45 minutes. However, the battery indicator is flashing and the unit is beeping continuously, indicating that the battery should be replaced. Is this normal for a brand new UPS with a fully charged battery? I didn't find anything concerning this in the manual.

The one thing you could try is a UPS braindead. For this model, you'll need to turn off your attached equipment to the UPS and unplug it. Then, turn the UPS off as well and unplug it from the wall. Disconnect the UPS battery completely and then hold down the power button afterwards on the UPS for about 10-20 seconds to ensure all capacitors are discharged. Reconnect the battery and turn the UPS back on and see what you get. You can also connect your computer and other items back up too if you'd like. Remember to wait for the UPS self test to complete when the UPS powers up.

Hello - the unit should be left to charge for at least 24 hours after unpacking it and installing it. So, just give it 24 hours without touching it or running any tests to see if that issue clears up.
When the units are in storage for a while (like on the shelf at a retailer), the battery voltage can be below a certain threshold so the UPS can't see it. After it charges up, it should go away. Let us know if it does not.

It has been about 27 hours now and the battery indicator is still blinking.

Can you give me the first few digits of the serial number off the UPS so we can see how old it is? The other thing I would try is with a non-critical load on the UPS, can you plug something into the battery back up outlets and then pull the plug on the UPS to see if it actually switches to battery power even though it indicates the battery is disconnected? If it works, then it tells me it could be a potential UPS issue. If it does not work, perhaps the battery was stored too long and cannot properly charge up. The serial number is on the white sticker on the back of the UPS - something like JB1224 is all I need. If that is the case, tech support should be able to send you a new battery.

I could not find a white sticker on the back of the UPS. I found one on the bottom that had the model number and another number that was 4B124OPO2447. I just looked at the box and it has that as the serial number also. I unplugged the UPS from the power outlet, it said it was delivering 72 watts of power which it said was an 8% load and it was going to keep my equipment running for 69 minutes. I only waited about 90 seconds and then I re-connected it to the power outlet. There is an inspection sticker on the side of the unit, it passed the inspections on 10-1-2012.

Ok, yes that is the serial number. Thank you. So in all your testing, your equipment connected to the UPS never turned off - either in your first test or second?
Is the battery indicator still flashing as of now? It seems like this is a false alarm but obviously the UPS should not have that indicator flashing even though the battery is truly connected per your testing results and the fact it keeps your equipment up and running.

Yes, in all my testing, the equipment connected to the UPS never turned off, yet that battery indicator is still blinking. Is there some way to reset it?
