There are a number of people who have had this issue that you can find via Google, but I can't find any reference to this here. Sorry if it's a repeat.
I had a perfectly working Powerchute running on my Mac for some time now, but since the 10.6.3 upgrade, the powerchute task is maxxing the CPU usage. I first realized it was an issue when I noticed that the processor temp shot up to 70C. The problem appears to be specific to the OS upgrade, as everything was fine before. Currently I am killing the powerchute task manually, but many people report uninstalling the program.
Is there any chance of getting a fix for Powerchute? I would hate to have to uninstall it since it's functionality is part and parcel of the UPS.

I'm assuming this is PowerChute Personal Edition? The last Mac OS PCPE supported was 10.4.8, so I'm not surprised if it doesn't work properly after that. From what I've heard, most people use the native support built into the OS to handle the graceful shutdown, since it had the same (if not better) functionality that PCPE offered. I don't know if there are any plans to change that, though.

I have exactly the same problem - 100% CPU usage until I force powerchute to quit. I'm not sure what "native" OS X capability the other response is referring to. Have you resolved the problem?
