Is my old APC Back-UPS RS 1500 to sensitive to my old house's power?

Hello.

I have had this problem since 2008. I am going to assume the old house (from the late 1970s/70s) power setup is old and maybe not enough due to lots of power usage. Once in a while when I turn on my old 20" CRT TV from 1996, my APC Back-UPS RS 1500 will beep and think there is a power failure for about a couple seconds but there isn't one. I did notice my old lamp flicker. I also notice this across the hall when someone turns on his old Dell Optiplex PC.

Is my UPS too sensitive to my old house's power? I did record the event logs on my old Debian/Linux box (note all the quick power failures and returns):
$ cat /var/log/apcupsd.events

$ cat /var/log/apcupsd.events

Hello Ant,

Just like what I have been recommending on your other threads, what we can do is to lower the Sensitivity settings and adjust the low and high transfer voltages to limit the number of times that it will switch to on battery mode. Check as well that the building/site wiring fault indicator is not lit up. Wiring connections and conditions can also be a factor on why the UPS behaves like that.
So lowering sensitivity is done through PowerChute in Windows only? I don't use Windows at home. πŸ˜•

House's wiring fault indicator and power surge power lights did not report anything odd.

I am not familiar with APCUPSD so I am not sure if it offers the capability to change the sensitivity and transfer voltages, but I am sure that APC PCPE would do it.

Hmm, maybe I can hook up the UPS to a Windows machine (virtual should be OK?) and configure it? If I reconnect to my Linux/Debian box, will it still remember the settings? Since my UPS is old, can I still use PCPE v3.0 with it?

If the RS 1500 is a beige/white one, PCPE 3.0 would work. I haven't tried installing it on a virtual PC but you can try it. There is also a manual procedure to adjust the sensitivity via the On/Off switch. The instructions are listed on the Users Manual

If the RS 1500 is a beige/white one, PCPE 3.0 would work. I haven't tried installing it on a virtual PC but you can try it. There is also a manual procedure to adjust the sensitivity via the On/Off switch. The instructions are listed on the Users Manual
OK and thanks. I hope it is easy to figure out what to set.

$ cat /var/log/apcupsd.events
