Hello there!
I live in Kenya and we are dealing with constant power cuts here especially at night.
So now if the power goes, the UPS will beeeeep and beeeep all night and make these constant humming noises which are quite annoying, anyway, since my home is my office and it's like a studio I hear this while I'm trying to sleep. So I was wondering if it is safe to just turn the ups off when the power goes at night or will that lead to damages on the ups battery or the equipment attached to it which is my 27" iMac and a laser printer. Sorry to bug with this, but i dont understand much of these technologies at all and don't even get the terminology used in many of the previously posted threads ... So ... If you could give me a very simple answer to this would be great!!!
Turn off yes or no and what are the risks.
Also wondering ... Is it normal that sometimes for 20+ hours this ups makes this quite loud humming noise? I had a smaller one previously and it was always silent. Was not happy finding this making so much noise ... Something wrong with it or normal?
Cheers, stacy

Hi Sta-cy,
If you turn off your computer after work then nothing is drawing power from the UPS while you are sleeping , then you may have UPS off. The surge protection of the UPS will still work.
It could be that the UPS is charging or supporting load which is greater that 75% of it's capacity or could be that UPS is on battery. Those are the 3 reasons why the UPS would have humming sound.
I assume that this has serial connection at the back of it, and if you have serial port on your computer, please do install PCBE agent to monitor the UPS.
If you may send us the exact model and serial number of the UPS (in private), it'll be much appreciated.
