We just purchased a Back-UPS BVN650M1 at Staples. I wanted to look up some additional information on it, but this model does not seem to exist on the APC.com website. The closest I can get to it via the site's search function is the BN650M1. (Notice the missing "V" in the set of letters before the "650".)
I have the User Manual which has BVN650M1 printed on it, and can scan and upload an image if necessary.
Can anyone confirm that the BN650M1 on the APC.com website is the same model as the BVN650M1 that we purchased? Why the extra letter, and why is it nowhere to be found on your website, not even as a discontinued model?
Depending on the answer as to whether they're the same thing, I may have a follow-up question.
Thank you.

What is the model number on the UPS itself? That may help.
I looked at the Staples sales page for the BVN650M1. It says the package contains an APC BN650M1 UPS.

Thanks, that's good to know.
But to answer your question, the model number printed on the bottom of the unit is BVN650M1.
Now supposing that it's the same model as the BN650M1, here's the question that I wanted to get to: the USB port on the top of the unit near the power switch, is advertised as a "charging" port. But if you visit the apc.com Web page for the BN650M1, down in the "Communications & Management" section it lists a USB "interface" port. And if you go to the "Software & Firmware" section of the page, it offers a download of the PowerChute Personal Edition software. Then again, on the BVN650M1 printed User Manual I couldn't find any mention at all of using the USB port to connect to a PC. So, bottom line, can this USB "charging" port be used to connect the unit to a computer?
I would try just connecting it to see what happens, but we're talking electricity here, and expensive equipment.

Hi,
The BVN650M1 does not have a data port to connect a PC to for use with PowerChute or any other shut down software. The 2.1amp USB port is a charging port only.
