I need a detailed difference between BR1500LCD & BX1500LCD

Can someone please give me a detailed difference between the BR1500LCD and the BX1500LCD?

What are the differences? Why should I buy one over the other?

I appreciate any responses but I ask if you do respond to please be detailed and not give a one or two sentence answer.

My system includes an iMac 24-inch :3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, additional DELL SP2309W monitor, Externals drives: 1TB HD, 750GB HD, 250GB HD, Cable modem.

There is no functional difference between the BR1500LCD and the BX1500LCD except the run time. The BX model is simply a "retail" version of the BR1500LCD, which has slightly different packaging for various retail outlets. For your information, the BX1500LCD can not be purchased from APC online store.

The BR1500LCD UPS estimated Backup Time at Half Load(432.5 Watts) is 11.7 minutes and 3.1 minutes at full load(865 Watts), where as the BX15000LCD UPS estimated run time is 13.4 minutes at Half Load(432.5 Watts) and 3.3 minutes at full load(865 Watts). There is no big difference in these units run time.

When you say that the BX1500LCD is simply a retail version of the BR1500LCD does this account for the various different housings it appears to have? For instance the BX1500LCD now being sold at BB looks completely different than the BX1500LCD on the link you provided. Does APC make a special case for BB?


Also the BX1500LCD seems to have a maximum input current of 13A while the BR1500LCD has a maximum input current of 12A.

I am not sure if I understood your first question. As far as I know, the BX1500LCD packaging only slightly changes at different retail stores. The Product design will remain same even if it sold at different retail stores. I leave this question to other members for more inputs..

Yes, its true that the BX1500LCD UPS maximum input current allowed is 13 Amps. However, the current draw of the UPS depends upon the load you plug in. I always recommend the load which we plug into the UPS outlets not to exceed 80 % of the UPS rated capacity in order to avail the sufficient run time during power failure. The UPS runtime is normally less at full load. In this case, the UPS current draw will be less than 12 Amps.

Might you be confusing the [BX1500LCD|http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BX1500LCD] with the [BX1500G|http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BX1500G]?


BX1500LCD and BR1500LCD are essentially identical units, with the XS system being the retail packaging version.

The BX1500G is the latest generation in the XS family to replace the BX1500LCD. I wasn't sure it was even shipping yet, but maybe you did see this at Best Buy.
