How to get the UPS status programmatically

Hi,

 I have a smart APC UPS (model Back-UPS RS 1200G). I need to drive the device (read status and more) under Windows 7, without Powerchute.

In the Windows device manager I can see the device under  "Human Interfaces Devices" and under "Batteries" and I can read the status throw Powerchute.

Is it possibile to configure the device to work in COM emulation (so I can send protocol commands)? How? If it is not possible how can I ask to the device the status programmatically? Is there an API available?

Hi,

Sorry but we do not offer an API. The Back-UPS USB comm is similar to our Smart-UPS so Application Note 178 should help.
