The back up battery of my LS 700 just died after good years of service. Unfortunately, the only replacement battery I can get hold of has higher amperage, i.e., 12Ah vs the previous 9Ah. I just rewired the terminal connection by extending + and - wires to connect the bigger battery external of the UPS. Is there a real danger in using this 12Ah battery vs the 9Ah?

Hello:
Using a higher capacity battery is not necessarily dangerous as long as the voltage is the same, however, APC does not advise using third party batteries in general. The UPS is designed/tested to charge and monitor a specific type of battery. Results with third party batteries can never be guaranteed, and may often vary. I have seen many third party batteries end up going bad and/or swelling prematurely, while an official APC RBC should last years. For this UPS I would recommend the APC RBC17.
Hope this helps. Thanks!
