HDMI Protection

I recently had a lightning strike near my house that fried all of the HDMI inputs on my TV. The rest of the TV works fine. Also fried a BluRay player, connected via HDMI. Comcast box was connected to outside cable via coax, then ran HDMI from box to TV. Would something like the APC SurgeArrest (P8VT3) prevent a power surge thru HDMI cables (since HDMI was connected to Comcast box)?

Hi,

The P8VT3 is designed to protect the cable box. You should plug the cable bot into 1 of the available AC outlets to protect from a surge coming in on the AC line. The run the incoming coax through the unit to protect against a surge coming in through there. 

I also recommend plugging the TV and Blu-ray player AC lines into the unit to protect their AC input.
