F01 Fault on Back-UPS XS 1300 LCD
I have a 3 year old Back-UPS XS 1300 LCD and recently it failed to provide power to my PC during a black out. Later I tested it again, by disconnecting the power cord, and UPS beeped 4 times and displayed F01 fault. The system uses only 300+ watt at maximum, so the fault doesn't make sense to me. The PowerChute 3.0 software displays a load bar that is maybe 40% full (300+ watts out of 780 that UPS is capable of handling.) I tried performing self-test on the UPS but it fails with a message "Unable to carry-out a self-test at this time". Could all this be due to a bad battery or is my UPS dead? I would hate to buy a new battery just to find out it doesn't solve the issue.

Hi LM,
If the problem has persist after doing the braindead procedure, I would say, the UPS is faulty and you might want to do tradeups with [BR1300G|http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BR1300G] or with the BR1500G.Tradeups will offer you to have discount in exchange of the old unit so you wont think of how to dispose the old one.
If you need assistance in tradeups, please call our hotline 800-800-4272 and our rep should be able to assist you.

Hi LM,
Can you send the serial number(in private) and model number of the unit?
Try to [braindead the unit|http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9603/kw/brain%20dead] to de-energized the circuitry of the UPS. If the problem persist, I would say the unit is faulty.

I "braindeded" the unit, as in instructions, but the F1 error appears again and the UPS cuts the power to my computer immediately after the power is disconnected. I don't know how to send you private message, so here's information about my UPS:
Model: Back-UPS XS 1300 LCD
Serial number: JB0749001623
Firmware revision: 836.H8.D
Software version: PowerChute Personal Edition 3.0
