Hey there,
I have one of the environmental master units and was wondering how I could get my servers to shutdown in the event of a power failure, similar to the UPS powerchute software. Any ideas?

Hi Slaughter, I have the AP9320. Are there any ways that I can make this unit shutdown servers in response to environmental conditions, possibly an add on product that would make it work?

You could do something with SNMP if you had a Network Management Station setup to receive traps from the environment management system. When the NMS receives the trap from the EMS for the violation you choose (temp/humidity for example) you could allow that to execute a simple script that would send a shutdown command to your server(s).

Hey Access, another option is if you have a UPS installed that has the network management card (either AP9618 or AP9619), you can wire up the relay output from the AP9320 to the input contacts on the network card. You can map the alarms on the AP9320 to relay output, which can then trip the inputs on the network card. You can then install powerchute network shutdown on your servers and configure them to shutdown on a contact fault. Just throwing another option out there.
