I like the master control feature on the ES750--if i plug in my monitor and speakers to those outlets, they shut down when the PC shuts down. But then, when the UPS goes over to battery power, I don't have the use of those devices (especially the monitor). Is there a reason why those outlets couldn't have also been set up to go over to backup power?

My thanks for the replies. However, the question I was seeking an answer for was why the UPS couldn't have been designed so that some outlets were both "master controlled" and battery backed. I'm sure that there must be a reason, so I was wondering what it was.

Billy,
I've talked to one of the product specialist for this UPS and what they have told me is that some of future APC products will feature an additional controlled by master outlet which is battery powered. A battery back-up is designed to provide power to the most critical devices during a power outage. Any none essential devices on the battery side would consume energy which might otherwise have provided more runtine for the critical devices. This is one of the reason why the early design of controlled by master outlet is on the surge side.
For the release date of those UPS that offers controlled by master feature outlet on the battery side, I can say that it is still a work in progress and no definite release date yet.

Welcome to the APC Forum Billy.
Thanks for your feedback. I found this document on the APC web, hope you could find some helpful information [http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/JLAE-7DZLB3_R0_EN.pdf]. I would tell the customer that those equipment that they want to be in sync with the UPS state but does not require to remain ON during a power problem can be connected on the Controlled Outlets. I would try to solicit for other opinion regarding the controlled by outlets feature.

Billy,
The Master Control technology is used to conserve energy when the Computer is not in use. Most of the Monitors in the Industry will enter into Power Saving mode automatically if it does not receive signal from the CPU. Therefore, I would not plug the Monitor into the Master Controlled outlet as it goes to Power Saving automatically whenever the CPU does not send the signal to it.
Devices like Printer consume power from the Power Source even when the Computer is not in use. So these type of equipment need to be plugged into the Master Controlled outlets in order to save the energy when the Computer is not in use. Please view the UPS user manual for more information.
