I purchased this UPS new on July 23, 2008 at a Futureshop store in Toronto, Canada. There is only a laptop plugged into the battery & surge protection power plug on the unit (other 3 plugs are unused).
Last week I have a power outtage and the laptop turned off right away while I was doing some work, this indicated that the UPS is not even provide any backup power. I did a few tests by un-plug the UPS power cord - the unit power green light is on and emit a 4 beeps every 30 seconds or so which indicated that it is using the backup battery. But I still not getting any power from the unit to turn on the laptop. PowerChute software indicated that the battery 100% charged and the battery status is in good condition with at least 35 minutes of battery power (see attached screen capture).
I don't know if this is a defective unit and/or the battery is bad - how can I solve this and/or to send this unit back for repair. Thank you.

hm, okay, you stated that you definitely have your laptop plugged into the "battery + surge protection" outlet. have you tried one of the other battery + surge protection outlets to see if they work?
the unit thinks its on battery at least as indicated but the 4 beeps every 30 seconds.
