Many thanks for your response and detailed guide lines. I have Windows Vista in my new computer. It is right on time to inform me that cd in the box is not for Vista. This is a good info otherwise I would have installed the cd & would have got into trouble for nothing. I will visit the apc.com and download the powerchute for Vista. I am going to use master/controlled outlets.

Is the Master Enable LED lit next to the power button?
Usually you would have to turn that on to watch the other peripherals power off.

I have bought this unit yesterday and it is still in the box. Mine is BE750G-CN. I will appreciate to get some suggestions before I set up this unit. I have two computers located in same room. The main computer is connected with the Cable Modem, D-Link and APC Back-Ups RS 900. Second new compuper is having wireless internet connection. I need to set up BE750G-CN with the new computer.
Please give me your suggestions to avoid start-up mistakes.

do you want to utilize the master outlet feature?
you can read the manual in the box on how to enable it or disable it.
The APC Back-UPS ES 750 features new master/controlled outlets, which work to reduce energy consumption by automatically shutting down power to unused peripherals, such as printers, scanners and speakers when the computer is in sleep mode. (incase you didnt know what that feature is.)
essentially, once you plug your items in the outlets, depending on whether you want battery backup and surge protection or just surge protection on certain items, plug in the data cable which is RJ-45 to USB into your computer. then you can decide whether you'd like to install APC's powerchute software or configure native support through your operating system. APC's powerchute software is on a disc in the box for windows xp and older but if you have windows vista make sure you download it off of apc.com. the version on the disc isnt compatible with windows vista.
i hope that will get you started. other than that theres really nothing else to know that isnt in the manual, which most of this already is. i wouldnt turn everything on at once since this UPS can only handle 450 watts. you need to watch your inrush current.
hope this helps.
