I am thinking this is a relay problem from what I have read on various other threads in the forum. But I would like some advice/opinions on what it may be. This is a recent development in the past couple months.Everything has worked fine for me in the past.
When the power goes out at my place and I am working on my computer, everything that should be powered by the battery back-up blinks off for a split second. Well my monitors blinking off for a second is no big deal, but my rig is another matter altogether. The battery simply never kicks on when the wall power goes out. However the weird thing is (and this is where I couldn't find a similar thread to tell me exactly what was wrong) when I have everything plugged in and going, I can pull the plug out of the socket and it works exactly how it should. I can even run my computer on it. It is only when there is a power flicker/surge/outage that it fails to work properly.
So I am safe from people tripping over the cord of my UPS thank goodness, but my real problem is the house losing power. Any ideas on little things I could do? I'm not a fan of installing software but if I must to get this to work again I suppose I could bear it.

hmm this is interesting. i have heard of this before but don't recall finding out the root issue of the problem unfortunately. i dont think you can change anything in the software that would solve the issue. i would assume it is a transfer time issue and how quickly the UPS is reacting to the flicker or something where it is deciding whether to switch or not depending on what the actual power event is classified as by the UPS.

Bugger...That makes my next question sound a bit redundant then. Is there some way that I can tell the unit to stay on battery power for a short duration in the event of a flicker? Say 30 seconds to a minute? (even 5-15 seconds would be nice) That way it would be able to safely change to either state and not be fighting itself in regards to whether or not it should be on battery power.

And perhaps this may seem a silly solution, but would this possibly be offset by chaining a second smaller unit in front of the main unit?
