I noticed the other day my Dell shut down on an old Back-UPS ES 500 when I was on the computer and the battery didnt hold. Since the battery backup I had was close to 7 years old with a replacement battery, I thought I would "upgrade" to something with more backup time and newer technology.
Well, today I bought and installed this new Back-UPS NS1250 and what do you know. My computer shut down and had zero running time on battery.
Scanning the forums it seems that it might some some type of sine wave issue and my power supply in my dell that is smarter than the UPS? The dell is about 2-3 years old. This backup is new. I am running the Personal PowerChute latest edition.
I dropped a $170 on this thing and kind of expect it to work.
Any help would be appreciated. Am I running the wrong software? Is it the settings?
Many thanks
Chris
Update: After some research, it seems my model is the same as the BX1300G. Apparently the NS1250 doesnt exist in the APC inventory.

The XPS 9000 comes up occasionally on these forums because it doesn't seem to work with BackUPS units. For example, check [this thread|https://community.se.com/t5/APC-UPS-for-Home-and-Office-Forum/bd-p/home-office-forum]. If your computer is out of warranty, I'd replace the power supply [as described here|http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/274635-28-power-issues-9000] because it's probably cheaper than the next alternative: a sine-wave UPS like our [SmartUPS family|http://www.apc.com/products/family/?id=165].
