I have installed a BE550R - it protects the network devices on the home network (cable modem, router, phone adapter, etc.).
Since 1st plugged in, the unit occassionally emits audible clicks. This seems to happen intermittently.
When it clicks, the desk light flickers.
This doesn't seem safe - any clue as to what is happening here??

My unit was doing the same thing (older house in rural area) so I adjusted the sensitivity settings. My question now is if I disconnect the data cable will the unit store the settings? Or, do I have to keep the unit connected in order for the unit to work on the newly adjusted sensitivity settings?
My cable isn't very long and my work area isn't ideal. Not having the cable connected would make a huge difference.
Thanks.

You can set the setting for sensitivity, and to turn off audible alarms at all times. After disconnecting the cable, the settings will stick.

Generally this happens when you have slightly dirty power. It's a pretty common occurence. The UPS is simply sensing a slight power problem, switching to battery, then immediately switching back to normal mode. When you are at a borderline condition, you will simply only hear that clicking.
To solve your problem, you're going to need to install the software that comes with the UPS. Once you have the software installed, adjust your sensitivity setting to medium or low. This will allow the unit to accept you power conditions.
