I attempted to change the battery in my ES 725 yesterday, and when I restarted the computer, it tells me the battery is diconnected, double and triple checked, and it was connected, I don't see any way it could be connected differently. Does that mean my unit is bad? Seems unlikely, since it was working fine until I changed the battery, even with reinstalling the old battery, it does the same thing. Any ideas?

How exactly did you connect the battery to your computer?

Hello,
When you doublechecked the battery connections, were both the red and black wires still securely connected, or had one/both of them come loose at all?
What was the exact message that you were receiving and where were you receiving it from? Are you using Powerchute of some kind? If so, which version (you can find this under Help/About in the Powerchute interface)?
Was the Back UPS making any sort of tones or beeping sounds when you experienced the problem?

I did not check thw wires, just the connectors, I don't have the ups connected at this time, so I can't get the details of the message. Yes, I am using Powerchute. version Personal Edition 1.5. Yes, I was getting a constant tone from the unit.

Hello,
Okay, if you were getting a constant tone then that would possibly indicate a disconnected battery.
I would just doublecheck the connection of the red and black wires again. When you slide the bottom cover off, make sure that red is connected to red and black is connected to black, and that they still have a secure connection. If they are connected securely, then the problem could be a faulty wire or perhaps a bad battery. Where did you get the new battery from and how long had the original battery been reported as bad?

Hello,
Did you have a chance to check the battery connections?

Just did it today, somehow when disconnecting the battery wire, the on-off switch broke, so that's what the problem was, I'm using a unit belonging to a friend right now, don't know if it would be cost effective to repair the725.

What is the serial number off of the UPS? You may want to just consider trading the UPS in for a discount on a brand new unit. This is called our Trade-UPS program and can be found through the following link:

Thanks.

I also have the UPS ES 725. After 4 years I replace the battery and it quit working. It gives the continuous tone sound. I called Tech. Supt. already and they said let the unit charge for 8 hours before you turn it on. I have no idea what?s that?s about.
Apparently these old 725 units have faulty wiring and the first time you change the battery the wires breaks or gets loose somewhere. I can't believe I spent with shipping about $50.00. For that price I could all most bought a new unit.
What is this upgrade all about? Since I now have a battery can I get a unit without a battery?

Hello,
We do not sell units without the battery, but you could partake in our Trade UPS program and either just hold on to the battery for future use, or ship it back with the pre-paid shipping label that is included.
Thanks.
