Upon receiving rs 1500 I installed the cd version software. I want to install the newer version 2.1.1 and I downloaded from site but it wants me to uninstall earlier versions first. When I attempt to do this,a prompt comes up telling me that I need to install a service pack update, not sure why I would need to do this and where do I find it? The computer did not shut down, when I tried a blackout test, is this due to wrong version installed? I am running Vista home premium, and hibernate is set to on.....

I have a similar problem... I have a BE500R which had been running on a Windows XP system. I just bought a Vista but installed the v1.3 before I realized it wasn't compatible with Vista. Now I cannot uninstall that and don't know the link to the proper installation for Vista. Can you also walk me thru about the Registry keys as I don't know how to enter those, once provided. Please respond to rodentcat@aol.com. Thanks.

Dan,
You will need the registry keys to remove any traces of PowerChute that are left behind by having an unsupported version installed on your machine.
What other problems are you referring to?

Is that the resolve for the uninstall issue is that I need Registry Key to do,and will new version take care of other issues?

The other issue is that the program did not shut down via the settings I have placed, which is to have them shut down after five minutes on battery, and that events are not recorded on powerchute program on sceen to computer , just curious if this is because of the compatiblity with Vista with this program

Dan,
I haven't come across a scenario where incompatible software will work as it should. For now, let's look towards getting the registry keys and uninstalled, the machine rebooted and 2.1.1 on there before we take a look at the shutdown problem.

Upon receiving your email on how to uninstall powerchute and registry key, I then installed latest version from APC site, and it seems to be working fine. I attempted a blackout and it put the computer into hibernation, and then shutdown Backup 1500 unit. It was evidently a compatibility issue with Vista operating system. Thanks for the support, hopefully no further problems, just wish it was a newer version on disk that was sent with unit to avoid such a problem. Thanks again.
