I live in a far-away country and can't get a 2-cell Replacement Battery Cartridge for my BR1000 / BR1500. I can, however, get 7 and 9 amp single batteries. Can I take the cartridge apart and replace the batteries? Also, in general, is it safe to use 9 amp batteries in APC UPSs that originally had 7 amp batteries. Thanks, Doug

well - APC cannot support/recommend the use of third party batteries in the UPS nor assist you with wiring them up.
but if you dont have access to them, personally, i wouldnt recommend taking the batteries apart but in general, you should be able to use a higher amp hour battery as far as i can tell - you will just get more runtime as long as the voltage on the battery is the same as the original battery. i think the BR1000 and BR1500 use 24vDC batteries.
again, from a company standpoint, APC cannot recommend nor assist in this matter.
