I have a Model BK500 that needs a new Battery. APC said it was an RBC2. OK, but that is 7 AH and the one that came out is the GP1272 F2. The F2 is the terminal type, but it is a 12v 7.2 AH battery. I know the capacity...going from 7.2AH to 7.0 AH is not great, and I suspect the charge rate will be OK, but why the difference? Why is the replacement not a 7.2 AH battery? Of course, the GP 1272 F2 is available online, but why does APC claim it is an RBC2?
P.S. I have the same issue with a BE550R! I hear it is an RBC110, but some say it is an RBC17! Again, what is the original capacity as this one has no markings on the old battery other that to say it is an RBC and the usual APC stuff? Just what is the replacement?
Thank you!

Hello. Well, the exact model number is...from the tag...BK500. The old battery is a GP1272 F2. Since the original was 7.2 AH why would APC "lower" it with a 7.0 AH replacement? Yes, I know that 200 ma is small, but why change. Also, I need the replacement for the Model BE550R. I was told it was an RBC110. Will that also be a 7 AH battery? If so, why would a 500VA unit AND a 550VA unit have a 7 AH battery...especially when the original 500VA unit had a 7.2AH battery? wouldn't the 550VA unit have a greater than 7.2AH replacement?
Thank you for your help...just trying to buy replacements for my 4 units...ONE-BK500, TWO-BE500U, and ONE-BE550R. Also...I see that there are 8 and 9 AH replacements for the BE550R battery. Would the charger in the BE550R work with them, or must I stay at 7 or 7.2 AH?

What is the exact model # on the units? Is the whole model # BK500? or is there something after it. The original battery for this unit is 7.0 - 7.2 AH. I assume this is due to the fact that we use different manufacturers of our batteries which may be 7.0 or 7.2

As I said, this is a range of 7.0 - 7.2 ah and this is likely due to have multiple manufacturers of our batteries. Ultimately, as long as you purchase an APC battery, you will be fine. We don't recommend using 3rd party batteries or any APC battery other than the one we recommend(rbc2 in this case) so I can't speak for what would happen if you put a larger AH battery in.

OK, but what is the spec on the BE550R Battery? I need that as well and believe it is an RBC110. Is that a 7.5 AH battery?

The part # is an APCRBC110. The specs are 7-7.2AH

OK...I just think it is strange that a 500VA unit has the same battery spec as a 550VA unit. I would think the 500va unit would be 7.2 amps and the 550VA unit would be a bit more like 7.5Amps. I would not think that both had a battery spec of 7-7.2. Anyway, thank you.
