Burnt UPS!

Hello Everyone and Seniors.
Myself Mayank Sharma from India.
Got myself a new APC Back-UPS RS 800IN running on Windows 7 x64 OS.
My PC config has Quad Core Q6600 running at 2.4GHz + WD 320GB, WD 1.5TB HDDs + EVGA 9800GT SC + Asus Xonar SC on CoolerMaster 450W RealPower PSU.
Just few hours ago the UPS got burnt. I dont know what happened. The area i am living in has quite power outages and undervoltage fluctuation problems.
I went with RS800IN model, based on its features and performance. Here are the few problems i've been facing:

1. The UPS after a full 8hr recharge shows ~23minutes of backup/time remaining. I tried working on the battery backup yesterday, just to assure everything is working fine. However, even after showing 23 minutes of remaining time, the UPS went dead within 15 minutes! What is wrong? Is there something i need to do or know? How much backup time should i be expecting? Is there anything i could do to improve backup time?
2. There was almost blackout for more than 10 hrs in our area, today. So, switched off the UPS. In the evening, the power came and suddenly, there was a clicking sound in the UPS and seconds after there was smoke and burnt smell coming out of the upper fins of the UPS. I immediately disconnected everything from the UPS. Later on, i checked the UPS was able to switch on with the Battery Mode but if i try to connect it through an AC outlet, again it trips the mainboard's MCB connector and doesnt switch on.

I hereby request some advice and comments on my situation.
It'll be highly appreciated.
Thanks...
