Brand new BN1500M2 fails with F02 error after one day operating.
I just installed my new UPS and the next night we had a storm where the power flickered off and on at some point. The UPS constant alarm started and the screen showed the F02 fault. I've read that this is a fairly common fault and I'm quite discouraged that a brand new UPS can't handle a short power outage.
After shutting it off and restarting it seems fine. The log from the ups daemon seem to indicate that at 23:17 it handled a very short failure but then sometime around midnight the daemon was restarted after I turned the UPS back on. So there is no log information about the fault:
2025-04-03 00:17:11 -0400 apcupsd 3.14.14 (31 May 2016) debian startup succeeded 2025-04-02 23:17:23 -0400 Power is back. UPS running on mains. 2025-04-02 23:17:21 -0400 Power failure. 2025-04-02 14:05:50 -0400 apcupsd 3.14.14 (31 May 2016) debian startup succeeded
Today I unplugged the power to the unit to make sure it was working and it switched to battery operation without problem. I also tried running the "apctest" program in order to run a self test but it doesn't seem to work. Does this model have a self test feature?
Select function number: 2
This test instructs the UPS to perform a self-test operation and reports the result when the test completes.
Clearing previous self test result...CLEARED Initiating self test...INITIATED Waiting for test to complete...TEST DID NOT COMPLETE
Is this a faulty unit? The battery in this "brand new" unit was installed a year ago. I hope this doesn't mean I've already lost a year of lifetime.
