Just got APC BR1500GI from Amazon and when on mains power it sounds like a hairdryer every 5-10 minutes for 45 seconds or so when loaded up to ~300W. Then it goes quiet for few minutes before the fan kicks in. When the load is below 100W the UPS stays deadly silent all the time.
When the fan comes on there is plenty or COLD air coming out from the top, the unit is not even warm to touch!
Really not happy about this, how do I turn the d-a-m-n fan off as it is driving me nuts?!?

Welcome to the APC quality world. I think the brand name is not what it used to be with !!!!! products weighing down the store shelves.
I just got BR1500ms and have nothing but problems with noises coming out from that garbage unit.I posted my experience in the other thread.
Hopefully potential buyers will research these issues on these forums before buying this crap. I wonder how they test their units in-house...
